KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11– Tajikistan sees Malaysia as a reliable and highly valued partner in Southeast Asia, with growing opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, logistics, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
Tajikistan Ambassador to Malaysia Ardasher S. Qodiri said both countries are also connected by strong ties of friendship, mutual respect and shared spiritual values.
“Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Government and the friendly people of Malaysia for their traditional warm hospitality and continued support in strengthening our bilateral relations,” he said at a reception to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence, here on Wednesday.
Qodiri said he looked forward to future joint projects and initiatives that could bring tangible benefits to the people and further strengthen the partnership between Central Asia and Southeast Asia.
Meanwhile, the ambassador said Tajikistan had undergone a significant transformation over the past 35 years, from post-crisis recovery to sustained economic growth.
“The country’s gross domestic product (GDP) has increased many times over, while average annual economic growth has remained above eight per cent, and the poverty rate has declined from 83 per cent in the early 2000s to less than 20 per cent,” he added.
He noted that Tajikistan has been steadily transforming from a predominantly agrarian-industrial economy into a dynamic industrial and logistics hub through the consistent implementation of its strategic national objectives, while laying a solid foundation for long-term sustainable development.
