Haze: Serian Records Very Unhealthy API Reading

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 — Serian recorded a very unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 258, while eight other areas in Sarawak registered unhealthy readings as of 9 am today.

According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, the eight areas were Sri Aman (197), Samarahan (195), Kuching (191), Bintulu (152), Sarikei (151), Samalaju (148), Mukah (118) and Sibu (108).

Forty-four areas nationwide were reported to have moderate air quality, while 14 areas recorded good readings.

An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 indicates moderate air quality, 101 to 200 indicates unhealthy air quality, 201 to 300 indicates very unhealthy air quality, while readings of 301 and above are considered hazardous.
