KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 — National men’s doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun clinched their first title of the season after staging a superb comeback to see off professional compatriots Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani in an all-Malaysian final at the French Open 2026 on Sunday.
The unseeded Wei Chong-Kai Wun bounced back from a 13-21 opening-game defeat and came out tops against the sixth seeds in the second game 21-15 to force a decider.
The current world No. 11 duo then wrapped up the tie 21-7 in the decider of the match that lasted 44-minutes at the Arena Grand Paris.
The victory marked their first title since winning the Malaysia Masters last year, while denying sixth seeds Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin a third crown of the season.
The world No. 5 Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin had previously won the Indonesia Masters in January and Indonesia Open in June this year.
As champions, Wei Chong-Kai Wun pocketed US$70,300 (about RM287,196), while Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin received US$33,250 (about RM135,836) as runners-up.
The triumph also ended the country’s 22-year wait for the French Open men’s doubles title, with Gan Teik Chai-Koo Kien Keat the last Malaysian pair to win the crown in 2004.
