TUMPAT, Aug 12 — The government has allocated RM6.4 billion for the implementation of 54 infrastructure development projects in Kelantan, said Senior Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
He said the projects included the Central Spine Road and the Kota Bharu-Kuala Krai Expressway.
In terms of project implementation, some are almost completed, he told reporters after visiting the Wakaf Bharu Bridge project site in conjunction with the East Zone FTRoadpedia 3.0 Tour programme today.
Also present were Malaysian Highway Authority director-general Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Hassan, Works Ministry secretary-general Datuk Wira Wan Ahmad Uzir Wan Sulaiman and Public Works Department director-general Datuk Seri Mohamad Zulkefly Sulaiman.
On the Wakaf Bharu bridge project, Fadillah said work on the project, costing RM105.5 million, started in February 2018 and scheduled for completion in November this year.
He said the project involved upgrading of the 1.56 kilometre-stretch of road to Pengkalan Kubor.
On work progress of the project, he said it had reached 89.38 per cent.
“Completion of the project will provide smoother travel from Kota Bharu to Pengkalan Kubor and serves as a catalyst for the economic growth of the local community,” he added.
