KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 20 — KPJ Healthcare Bhd has inked a strategic collaboration agreement with Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) through its wholly owned subsidiary, SOCSO Rehabilitation Centre (Pusat Rehabilitasi Perkeso) to help patients to recover physically, vocationally and psychologically before easing back to their normal lives.
SOCSO chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed said the two-year partnership would allow it to provide early intervention, and comprehensive rehabilitation services and improve accessibility to individuals insured with the organisation at selected KPJ specialist hospitals throughout the country to enable them to receive treatment and return to work as soon as possible.
“The recovery process can also be accelerated and optimised so that patients can return to work and support their families. This is in line with the goals of SOCSO’s Return-To-Work (RTW) programme, which emphasises early intervention and intensive rehabilitation,” he said in a statement today.
The services under the partnership include inpatient treatments, nursing care, physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapies, and others depending on the needs of the patients.
KPJ Healthcare Officer In Charge Norhaizam Mohammad in the same statement said the partnership was important in bridging the gaps between private and public institutions while effectively maximising all the healthcare capacities in Malaysia.
“Since June last year, we have already been receiving decanted patients from SOCSO at KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital and more recently at Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (DSH2), and we look forward to adding on more KPJ Healthcare facilities through this strategic partnership,” she added.
The agreement was signed by the rehab centre executive director Datuk Dr Hafez Hussain representing Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman, and Norhaizam Mohammad on behalf of KPJ Healthcare, witnessed by KPJ Healthcare acting chief operating officer Mohamad Farid Salim and the centre’s chief medical officer Dr Nur Liyana Kahar.
Currently, the outpatient programme is available at KPJ Rawang Specialist Hospital, KPJ Perlis Specialist Hospital, KPJ Bandar Dato’ Onn Specialist Hospital, KPJ Tawakkal Specialist Hospital, KPJ Kuantan Specialist Hospital, KPJ Penang Specialist Hospital and KPJ Sentosa Specialist Hospital.
