IPOH, April 3 — The Tambun Parliamentary Service Centre has launched a Free Tuition Programme that will benefit nearly 20,000 students in the constituency, especially from the B40 and M40 groups.

Special officer to Tambun Member of Parliament, Mohamad Hairul Amir Sabri, said the main target of the programme is to help students who will sit for major examinations, including Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates.

“We provide online tuition classes for Year One to Form Five students via the TambunTuition.com website.

“If we look at the current situation, the cost for these extra classes is quite high. For example, if a family has three children and each subject costs RM50, four subjects would cost RM200 or a total of RM600, which can be saved,” he told a press conference here today.

Mohamad Hairul Amir said the programme, in collaboration with the State Education Department, started at the beginning of the school session and this time, it will include Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tanjong Rambutan.

“All students and pupils can log on to the website using their user ID that has been registered. They only need internet access to do revision at any time by choosing any subject, topic and sub-topic that have been prepared,” he said.

Meanwhile, the principal of SMK Tanjong Rambutan, Mohamat Adek Abdul Rahman, said that the initiative inspired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim could reduce the burden of education costs borne by the families concerned.

“This programme is very beneficial to our students in Tanjong Rambutan, especially with the subjects they need to master for SPM.

“We also hope this effort will help parents encourage their children to continue studying and excel academically,” he said.
