KEMAMAN, April 24 — Police are investigating a man who was holding two objects in his hands which looked like pieces of wood by the side of the road because it is believed he was not happy with a group of young motorcyclists.
District police chief Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan said investigations are being carried out based on the videos that went viral on TikTok yesterday evening.
He said the incident took place at Km157 Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan at the Geliga traffic light junction about 6.45pm on Saturday, the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
“We are also trying to identify and locate all who were involved in the incident to facilitate further investigations.
“Members of the public who have any information regarding the incident are urged to come forward and please liaise with police,” he said in a statement.
Hanyan added that members of the public are strongly advised not to take matters into their own hands if anything happens that irks or riles them up.
Instead, he said, they must lodge a report with the police.
“We strongly advise all road users to please follow and adhere to all the rules and regulations while on the road.
“The case is being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation,” said Hanyan.
The video that went viral showed an adult male standing by the side of the road while holding what looks like two pieces of wood, supposedly to chase away a group of young motorcyclists who were riding through or past the area.
