BANGKOK, June 27 — Malaysia is set to host the 17th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) in Kuala Lumpur next year, bringing in Chinese entrepreneurs from around the world to explore new business opportunities, establish networks, and foster economic cooperation.
President of the Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), Tan Sri Low Kian Chuan, said the WCEC would be a dynamic platform for entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds and industries to engage in collaborations and establish cooperation and partnerships.
“Malaysia is well prepared to host the biennial convention in 2024.
“We will organise a range of activities, including convention, business matching, exhibitions, site visits and study tours, as well as a post-convention business mission. Besides that, post-convention tourism will be offered by (the Chinese commerce) chambers from all 13 states in Malaysia.
“We are expecting more than 3,000 entrepreneurs from around the world to gather in Kuala Lumpur for the 17th WCEC IN 2024,” he told Bernama.
Low said the WCEC would serve as a platform and catalyst for attracting more businesses to leverage Malaysia’s strategic edge and tap into the vast global halal market.
“The market for halal products is rapidly growing. Malaysia has the advantage as a leading halal-related industry to encourage more foreign and local investments into the country,” he said.
Malaysia was supposed to hold the WCEC in 2021, but the convention was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Low said the 17th WCEC will be held from Sept 9 to Sept 11, 2024, at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
“I earnestly call upon all entrepreneurial colleagues from around the world to strongly support the 17th WCEC.
“Let us march forward hand in hand, seize every opportunity with an open mind and vision, and foster deeper, stronger, and more effective collaboration in the hope of creating greater success for the WCEC,” he said.
On Monday, Low and ACCCIM life honorary president Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap received the WCEC’s flag from the chairman of the Thai Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Dr Narongsak Putthapornmongkol, at the closing ceremony of the 16th WCEC, which was held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok.
As the world experiences a new wave of technological and industrial revolution, Low said entrepreneurs should embrace the change with a global perspective and actively seek opportunities for collaboration.
“With the emergence of groundbreaking technologies, we have the potential to drive innovative collaborations, share opportunities for development, and work towards a smarter and better future,” he added.
