Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg announced this in his speech at the national-level Malaysia Day 2023 celebration held at the Perpaduan Stadium here, tonight.
“I am happy to announce that Sarawak has made history today. Kuching has been selected to host IWA’s World Water Congress and Exhibition in 2028 after presenting its bid for the event at Bordeaux, France.
“Indeed, this is another significant milestone, especially during our 60th Malaysia Day celebration that Malaysians can be proud of,” he said.
Abang Johari said the congress is expected to attract 10,000 participants from 80 countries and it will be held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
“The congress is also expected to generate economic outcomes (for both Sarawak and Malaysia), this will also position Sarawak as a hub in the global water industry,” he added.
