KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 — The Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE) is expected to be officially open to the public on Nov 1, said Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
He said the highway is 99 per cent complete, but final preparations are underway for some facilities such as public restrooms, street lighting involving electrical supply, and toll collection systems.
“I understand the concerns of road users who are requesting the SPE to be opened as soon as possible to help reduce traffic congestion issues in certain areas in Kuala Lumpur,” he said in a Facebook post today.
According to Nanta, the Works Ministry (KKR) and the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) always prioritised providing road infrastructure facilities to users, but will not compromise on the safety of road users.
As such, he said the KKR has directed concession companies to ensure that every specification and facility on this route are fully complete and up to standard, adding that it aligned with the MYJalan campaign, which focuses on ensuring the comfort of road users.
