KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 — The administrative Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) that was imposed in Kota Setar district, Kedah on Sept 11 will end today, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Ismail Sabri said the government, however, had decided to extend the targeted EMCO at Rumah Pangsa Tongkang Yard (Seberang Perak) until Oct 7 because the district is facing a high risk of COVID-19 infection.
“A total of 94 residents in that location have been screened and nine of them from five houses were found positive of COVID-19.
“The extension is to enable a second round of screening to be done by the Health Ministry. The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) will maintain movement controls in the location to ensure all residents abide by the standard operating procedure and quarantine order,” he said in a statement today.
Ismail Sabri also announced that Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Korok Lama would be closed from tomorrow until Oct 9.
