KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26 – Former Dewan Negara president Tan Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has been appointed as Sarawak’s eighth Yang di-Pertua Negeri effective Friday.
Earlier, it was reported that he had submitted his resignation as Dewan Negara president.
The government had nominated Wan Junaidi as the Dewan Negara president in June last year, succeeding Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim.
He was an MP for seven terms since 1990, before deciding not to defend his Santubong seat in the 15th General Election.
The previous Sarawak governor is Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who held the position from March 2014.
