KANGAR, July 22 – Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UniSIRAJ) in Perlis are expected to strengthen bilateral strategic cooperation with higher education institutions and related sectors in Indonesia in due course.
According to a statement from Istana Arau yesterday, ties between Perlis and Indonesia have grown increasingly close with the establishment of Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM), the only overseas campus fully owned by Universitas Muhammadiyah, located in the state.
The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, who is Chancellor of both UniMAP and UniSIRAJ, expressed hope that UMAM will continue to play a pivotal role in providing a conducive educational environment and fulfilling the academic aspirations of communities across the region.
“Several joint initiatives are already being planned for implementation this coming September between Perlis and Indonesia,” said His Royal Highness.
The statement also noted that Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra held a meeting with Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Prof Brian Yuliarto, in Kuala Lumpur last Sunday.
