WASHINGTON, July 14 – Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, has been identified by the FBI as the gunman who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, according to a statement by the FBI, reported Sputnik.

“The FBI has identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the subject involved in the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump on July 13, in Butler, Pennsylvania. This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” the FBI said Sunday.

Earlier, the FBI said they are still working to find the motive behind the assassination attempt.

Trump said a bullet fired by the gunman pierced the upper part of his right ear, but he is safe.
