DHAKA, July 29 – The mobile internet in Bangladesh has been restored after 10 days, Dhaka Tribune reported.
Users of Robi, Grameenphone, Banglalink and other operators in Dhaka said they could access the internet through their phones around 3pm on Sunday.
Earlier, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak at a briefing said the government was planning to restore mobile internet around 3pm.
He made the comments after meeting with mobile operators at BTRC Bhaban in Dhaka.
He added that 5GB of internet would be provided for free to all users for three days after the connection is restored.
Regarding access to social media platforms, the state minister said the BTRC has sent letters to authorities of social media platforms, including Facebook, Tiktok and YouTube.
“Their representatives have to come to Dhaka by July 31 to give explanations. Then, after discussing it with them, we will make a decision,” he added.
Internet connectivity across Bangladesh was disrupted for five consecutive days, from the night of July 17 to late July 23.
Broadband internet services have been partially restored since July 23.
