KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 – Chinese companies had invested a total of Last year, the investment RM14.5 billion in Malaysia last year, ranking among the top five sources of foreign investment, said Sun Shuqiang, Minister Counselor of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia.
He said that according to statistics, China had over the years invested in nearly 500 manufacturing projects in Malaysia, with a cumulative investment of RM74.2 billion, creating more than 82,000 jobs.
Chinese companies’ overseas investment carries the flow code of “innovation, coordination, green, openness, and sharing” and the vitality of new quality productivity, which is in line with the concept of “sustainable development, prosperity, innovation, respect, and trust”, he said at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Jiangsu Service Trade Expo at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Friday.
In his speech, Sun Shuqiang cited Jiangsu Tianyi Aviation Industry Co., Ltd. as an example to introduce the successful cases of Jiangsu enterprises empowering Malaysia with technological strength and “China speed”.
He said that last year, Tianyi Aviation succeeded in delivering 24 special airline catering vehicles to Malaysia Airlines in just two months, which other countries had to wait in line for half a year to purchase, solving the urgent needs of Malaysia Airlines.
“The vehicle is also equipped with an advanced intelligent anti-collision system, which made the then Managing Director of Malaysia Airlines Group Datuk Izham Ismail praised it and said that he had never seen it in his 40 years of working at the airport,” he added.
