GUA MUSANG, Aug 17 – Voter turnout for the Nenggiri by-election has reached 71.87 per cent as of 4 Saturday afternoon, surpassing the Election Commission’s (EC) expectation of 60 per cent and the 61.09 per cent recorded in the 15th State Election in August last year.

As of 4 pm, six of the 20 polling centres had already closed, with the remaining 14 set to close at 6 pm.

The by-election witnessed a straight fight between Barisan Nasional candidate Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani, who represented the Unity Government, and Perikatan Nasional’s Mohd Rizwadi Ismail, who contested under the PAS logo.
