JAKARTA, Sept 30 – The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) is poised to connect Malaysian companies, particularly its business units, with firms in the Indonesian Chamber of Entrepreneurs (KEIND) to explore new opportunities in both countries and internationally.

Felda chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek underscored the potential of harnessing the combined knowledge and resources of Malaysia and Indonesia to create a larger and more lucrative market.

“We hope to collaborate in seeking larger markets in Europe, Africa, Japan, and South Korea, which will benefit both parties,” he told reporters after delivering a keynote address at the 3rd KEIND National Working Meeting on Monday.

“The synergy between Malaysia and Indonesia will bring substantial benefits, not just for both countries, but also for the Southeast Asian region.”

The event, which focused on resilience, sustainability, and inclusive development, gathered entrepreneurs, government officials, and business leaders from across Asia and Africa.

In his address, Ahmad Shabery described the cooperative relationship between Malaysia and Indonesia as akin to that of two friendly nations sharing a rich cultural and historical heritage.

“We have significant potential to support one another across various fields,” the former Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister from 2015 to 2018 said.

He also noted the success of several Indonesian businesses in Malaysia, including coffee shop chain, Kopi Kenangan, which entered the Malaysian market in 2022 and thrived post-COVID-19.

Indomie, the popular Indonesian instant noodle brand, continues to enjoy widespread appeal in Malaysia and globally while Kopiko, a coffee candy brand has maintained its popularity in Malaysia for many years while innovating with new product offerings, he added.

KEIND was established in Jakarta to bring together small, medium, and large entrepreneurs from various sectors and now operates in 28 provinces across Indonesia, with representatives in various districts, cities, and internationally.
