JAKARTA, Oct 8 – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed an order to start the transfer of civil servants to the New Capital Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan, in January 2025, Antara news agency reported quoting State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas.

“Last night, I received an instruction from Mr. President through Mr. (State Secretariat Minister) Pratikno to relocate civil servants to IKN in January,” he remarked at an event organized by his office in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He noted that the initial plan was for the government to initiate the transfer of civil servants to the future capital city last September.

“However, we were then instructed to perfect the ecosystem first,” Anas pointed out.

The minister then emphasized that his side would immediately move to devise relocation schemes and incentives for state apparatuses to be stationed in Nusantara.

To that end, he ensured that he and his aides would continue to invest greater efforts to make the relocation a success.
