JAKARTA, Oct 21 – President Prabowo Subianto officially appointed Sugiono, the deputy chairperson of the Gerindra Party, as Indonesia’s new foreign minister, replacing Retno Marsudi.

The announcement was made by Prabowo while introducing ministers, deputy ministers, and agency heads of his “Red and White Cabinet” at the State Palace in Jakarta on Sunday evening.

The President also announced that Gelora Party politician Anis Matta, the Indonesian Permanent Representative to the UN Arrmanatha Nasir, and the Indonesian Ambassador to Germany Arif Havas Oegroseno would serve as deputy foreign ministers.

These three deputy foreign ministers will assist Sugiono, who served as Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives during the 2019-2024 period, in carrying out his duties to steer national diplomacy.
