MOSCOW, Oct 24 – Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is leading his rival, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, by two percentage points, the Wall Street Journal newspaper’s poll read on Thursday.

The survey showed that 47 per cent of US voters would opt for Trump, compared to 45 per cent for Harris. The poll also indicated that 52 per cent of voters approved Trump’s performance when he was the US president, whereas only 42 per cent approved Harris’ performance as vice president, Sputnik reported.

The poll was conducted from October 19-22 among 1,500 voters. The margin of error was 2.5 percentage points.

Another survey, published by the Financial Times newspaper, showed that Trump had overtaken Harris as the candidate Americans trust with the economy. The poll found that 44 per cent of registered voters said that they trusted Trump more to handle the economy, while 43 per cent opted for Harris.

However, Harris represents the economic interests of the middle class and small businesses better than Trump, who is seen as better representing the interests of large corporations and wealthy individuals.

According to the respondents, the main source of financial concern for them is the increase in prices, as well as their level of income, rental costs, and health care expenses.

The survey was conducted online from October 17-21 among 1,007 voters . The margin of error was 3.1 percentage points.

The US presidential election will be held on November 5.
