PERMAISURI, Dec 20 — Three family members, including a one-year-old boy, had a terrifying moment when a four-wheel-drive vehicle they were travelling in skidded on a bridge in Kampung Sri Bayas, here, and almost plunged into the river underneath it last night.
Setiu Fire and Rescue Station chief Zull Azman Jamaludin said the station received a distress call at about 9.25 pm and upon arriving at the scene found the vehicle on the edge of the bridge with its right front and rear tyre hanging, and the victims still inside.
“The incident happened because the driver, Wan Mohamad Taufiq Ramli, 28, could not see the path because the bridge was submerged in about 0.3 metre of water and there was no railing on the sides of the bridge,” he said when contacted today.
He said Wan Mohamad Taufiq was with his father, Ramli Mustafa, 62, and they were on the way to Setiu Hospital to send his son, Wan Mohamad Zafran, who was having high fever.
Zull Azman said all the victims were rescued and then sent to Setiu Hospital.
