KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 – The Japan Maritime Daily (JMD), Japan’s leading maritime newspaper, will host a high-profile international seminar in Singapore, focusing on the theme “Navigating Turbulent Waters in the Shipping Industry” on Oct 27.
Supported by the Singapore Exchange (SGX) and themed “Emerging Transport Demands”, the seminar will highlight the initiatives of Japan’s major shipping companies and explore the future of the shipping industry through panel discussions, according to a statement.
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) Senior Managing Executive Officer, Jotaro Tamura, will deliver the keynote address, offering perspective on how major shipping lines like MOL are adapting to evolving global logistics demands.
Also taking the stage is SGX Group Director, Kenneth Ng, who will present on risk management using forward freight agreements, while SSY Global Head of Research, Dr Roar Adland will unpack dry bulk fundamentals and the geopolitical forces shaping the market.
A panel discussion, moderated by The JMD Principal Editor Yohei Misaki, will feature maritime leaders from Hafnia, MC Shipping Singapore Branch, Baltic Exchange Asia, and Tokyo Century Corporation, discussing the rise of new transport challenges amid shifting global trade flows.
The seminar, which runs at the SGX Auditorium in Singapore, will be followed by a complimentary networking reception. Participation is free, with capacity limited to 150 attendees.
