GOMBAK, Sept 30 — Transport Minister Anthony Loke today urged the management of the newly-launched Terminal Bersepadu Gombak (TBG) to ensure the RM307 million facility is impeccably maintained at all times and not just for official events.
Describing the terminal as a key project under the federal administration, Loke said the facility is designed to improve mobility and elevate the Klang Valley’s status as a world-class urban centre.
Built primarily to serve East Coast routes to Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan, TBG is expected to handle up to 25,000 passengers daily.
He said that consistent upkeep was crucial for the terminal, which he described as a world-class facility reflecting the quality of Malaysia’s public transport system.
In a pointed remark, Loke emphasised that the high standards seen during the launch, which was attended by the prime minister, must be the daily norm.
“Usually when the PM visits, of course everything looks pretty. All is clean, all lifts and escalators are moving, but when the PM is not here we start seeing problems,” the minister said.
“I hope TBG’s management can maintain this good service just as what we’re witnessing today, when the PM is here.”
Loke said TBG is designed as a modern transport-oriented development, aiming to create a comprehensive ecosystem that includes shopping, dining, and lifestyle elements, beyond just transportation.
He added that TBG is “not a normal bus terminal,” as it is equipped with a digital ticketing system to monitor bus movements in real-time and will be linked to the future Gombak East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) station. – Malay Mail
