Year 4 Pupil Dies After Being Found Unconscious in Seremban School Toilet

SEREMBAN, Oct 2 — A Year Four pupil was found unconscious in a school toilet yesterday and was later pronounced dead at a private medical centre here.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said a report on the incident was received at 1.19 pm, when the 10-year-old victim was undergoing initial treatment at the medical centre.

“The victim was rushed to the medical centre by the school’s disciplinary teacher, but was later confirmed dead by the attending doctor,” he said in a statement here today.

Alzafny said preliminary investigations revealed that the boy was found unconscious in the school toilet before being rushed to the medical centre for treatment.

He said a post-mortem would be conducted at Rembau Hospital later today to determine the cause of death, and the case was being investigated under Section 507C of the Penal Code.

Alzafny urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information regarding the incident.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the ministry would leave it to the police to investigate and stressed that it would be carried out transparently.

She said the Education Ministry was currently giving priority to psychosocial and emotional support for the school’s students and teachers.
