KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — Non-Malaysian employees holding a Visitor’s Pass (Temporary Employment) or an Employment Pass will be automatically registered as members from October 2025, the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) said.
In a statement, EPF said the move removes the need for employees to visit its offices, as employers can verify registration details online via i-Akaun (Employer).
It added that employers affected have been informed of the new process through notice letters issued from Sept 20, 2025.
“They are required to schedule an appointment via the URL link provided in the notice letter to register employees who were not successfully registered automatically, as well as to update information and verify thumbprints for employees who have been successfully registered,” it said.
For holders of other types of passes, registration and record updates can continue to be carried out at EPF offices nationwide as usual, EPF added.
EPF mentioned that employers may proceed with contribution payments using the EPF number provided for employees who have been successfully registered.
The agency said employers are responsible for ensuring that accurate monthly contributions are deducted from employees’ wages and remitted to the EPF on or before the 15th of each month.
It said the new policy, effective Oct 1, 2025, requires all unregistered companies to register with the EPF, employers to contribute for their workers, and both employers and employees to each contribute two per cent of wages, with payments due by the 15th of every month.
“Employers must update and maintain employees’ payroll records for EPF inspection purposes, update information such as contact details, changes in company name or company status, and notify EPF in the event of cessation of business operations or termination of all employees.
“Employers should advise employees to apply for the Leaving the Country Withdrawal within two months before their work permit expires, and ensure all supporting documents for eligible withdrawals are duly verified, complete, and in proper order,” it added.
