PENAMPANG, Nov 15 – United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) president Datuk Ewon Benedick has just announced, in just about 14 hours before nomination, that the party will contest 25 Sabah State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats in the 17th State Election.
Ewon, who will defend the Kadamaian seat, said he will lead Upko’s lineup of candidates.
“I will lead these Upko candidates in championing our manifesto and the ‘Sabah First’ agenda, in line with the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and Sabah’s rights under the Federal Constitution.
“I will also lead the candidates in offering principled leadership, with clear benchmarks and performance indicators for each of them, so that they consistently deliver their best for the people of Sabah.
“I will also lead these candidates in fighting for the implementation of Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement, because with the return of our revenue share, we can develop infrastructure and amenities, grow the economy and entrepreneurship, eradicate poverty and improve the well-being of Sabahans more effectively,” he said.
Ewon called on voters to unite behind the #SabahFirst agenda as the core of the party’s struggle in this election.
“Myself and all Upko candidates appeal for the support of the people of Sabah,” he said in a statement today.
