DAP Draws Blank in Sabah Polls; Loke Takes Responsibility

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 — DAP failed to win any of the eight seats it contested in the 17th Sabah State Election today.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said the party accepts and respects the decision made by voters, and also congratulated the parties and candidates who emerged victorious.

“The party leadership will learn from this result, review our weaknesses and work to regain public support in the next election,” he said in a statement tonight.

The eight seats contested by Sabah DAP were Luyang, Kapayan, Likas, Tanjong Papat, Elopura, Sri Tanjong, as well as the new seats of Tanjung Aru and Kemabong.

Loke said Sabah DAP was still represented by two members of parliament, who will continue strengthening their work in Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan.

“As secretary-general, I take full responsibility for the shortcomings that led to DAP not winning any seats in this 17th Sabah State Election,” he said.
