KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 — The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) has agreed to organise the 31st Malaysia Film Festival (FFM31), which is expected to be in October, incorporating the concept of new norms.

FINAS said in a statement today that this step was taken to reduce the potential risks and to curb the spread of COVID-19.

“The decision was made based on the FINAS Corporation members meeting No. 5/2021 that was chaired by FINAS chairman Zakaria Abdul Hamid,” the statement read.

In addition, the meeting also discussed legal action that will be taken against 39 companies that failed to complete film productions under the Digital Content Fund initiative as previously reported.

FINAS also said that applications involving 10 creative industry associations under the Malaysian Creative Capacity Enhancement Programme (MyCAP) were approved by the MyCAP special committee meeting.
