PUTRAJAYA, Aug 7 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received a courtesy call from General Xu Xueqiang, Minister of Equipment Development under China’s Central Military Commission, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Malaysia-China bilateral relations.
Anwar said the meeting highlighted the deepening cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of defence and security.
“Malaysia values its close partnership with China in the field of security, including joint training exercises, and emphasises the importance of collaboration in strategic technology,” he posted on social media.
The Prime Minister also expressed appreciation for China’s constructive role in regional affairs, including efforts to mediate ceasefires between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as its continued support in addressing the crisis in Myanmar.
“I also conveyed my respect to China’s top leadership and look forward to the opportunity to meet with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang early next month,” he added.
