KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 – Indian lifestyle brand Fabindia marked its 10th anniversary in Malaysia with a vibrant celebration at a hotel here last Saturday, commemorating a decade of connecting Malaysian consumers with handcrafted products rooted in India’s artisanal heritage.
Established in Malaysia in 2015 with the opening of its first outlet at NU Sentral, Fabindia has since expanded to three locations across the country – NU Sentral, Masjid India and Penang – under the leadership of franchise owner Datin Manjari V.R.
Manjari, in her speech, said she is honoured to have had the opportunity to bring the Fabindia franchise to Malaysia and Singapore.
“As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we are deeply thankful to the founder for entrusting us with this journey, to our loyal customers for their continued support, and to our dedicated staff who have been instrumental in our growth,” she said.
The event was graced by Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) M. Kulasegaran and President of Fabindia Retail, Ajay Kapoor.
To commemorate the milestone, the celebration featured a high tea reception, followed by an engaging cultural performance and a fashion showcase titled “Showcasing Fabindia in Colour”, styled by Malaysian stylist Yogash.
The showcase presented 20 models in Fabindia’s signature garments, blending traditional Indian textiles with modern aesthetics.
Founded in 1960 as a home furnishings export company, Fabindia opened its first retail store in New Delhi in 1976.
Since then, it has grown into India’s largest private platform for products made using traditional techniques, hand-based processes, and sustainable practices.
The brand now connects over 55,000 rural artisans across India to global markets, with international outlets in Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai, Italy, Nepal, Mauritius, the United States, Fiji, Sri Lanka, Japan and Canada.
