SHAH ALAM, March 10 — Schools nationwide will receive additional holidays from March 19 (Thursday) in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebrations, according to the academic calendar issued by the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE).
According to the current calendar, Syawal 1 is expected to fall on March 21 (Saturday).
For Group A, which includes Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, schools will be given one extra day off on March 19.
Meanwhile, Group B, comprising Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya, will enjoy two additional days on March 19 and 20 ahead of the festivities.
At the same time, schools will also observe the first school term break lasting nine days, with Group A on break from March 20 to 28, and Group B from March 21 to 29, 2026.
The arrangement allows students, teachers and school staff to prepare for Aidilfitri and plan their journeys home in an orderly manner. – Media Selangor
