ARAU, June 24 — The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, today conferred state honours and medals on 185 individuals in conjunction with the ruler’s 82nd birthday. The investiture ceremony is being held in two sessions, Monday and this Thursday at Istana Arau.
Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli said one recipient was awarded the Darjah Setia Mahkota Perlis (SMP), while 23 others received the Darjah Ahli Mahkota Perlis (AMP).
He added that 20 individuals were awarded the Pingat Mahkota Perlis (PMP), 60 received the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK), and 69 were honoured with the Pingat Jasa Baik (PJB).
“Additionally, 11 recipients were conferred the Pingat Perkhidmatan Lama (PPL), and one received the Pingat Pekerti Terpilih (PPT),” he said in a statement.
Among the PJK recipients were Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) photographer Harry Salzman Abu Bakar and RTM Perlis Programme Division head Nur Suriawaty Abdul Nasir.
Three local celebrities – actress Rita Rudaini Mohammad @ Mokhtar, Nur Fasha Sandha Hassan, and Ezany Nizariff (real name Dr Mohd Zani @ Mohd Zohiri Mohd Nizariff) , were among the PJB recipients.
Mohd Shukri expressed the state government’s appreciation and congratulations to all recipients, hoping the awards would serve as a catalyst for continued excellence in service to religion, community, and the state.
The main session of the investiture ceremony was held on May 17, involving 25 recipients who received their awards at Istana Arau.
