Wisma Putra Yet to Receive US Envoy Nomination

KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 — The Foreign Ministry has yet to receive an application from the United States on the nomination of conservative commentator Nick Adams as US ambassador to Malaysia.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said any information regarding the matter would be brought to the Cabinet before a decision is made.

“Regarding Nick Adams, we have not received an agreement from the US. Let’s leave it for now, let’s see how it goes. Of course, Wisma Putra will provide views and considerations to be brought to the Cabinet and the Cabinet will decide on it,” he said during a question-and-answer session at the Dewan Rakyat today.

Mohamad was responding to a supplementary question by Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman (PN-Kuala Krai) regarding the nomination of Nick Adams as US ambassador to Malaysia.

International media had previously reported that US President Donald Trump had nominated Nick Adams, a naturalised Australian-born conservative political commentator, as US ambassador to Malaysia.

However, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil reportedly said the Cabinet had yet to receive a memorandum from Wisma Putra on the appointment.
