KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 — The China Jiangsu Service Trade Expo 2025 opened on August 22nd in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Changshu City, Jiangsu Province, China, participated with a delegation led by Li Wei, Deputy Director of the Changshu Bureau of Commerce. China and Malaysia have long maintained profound friendly cooperative relations, with close exchanges across various fields such as economy, trade, and culture. This expo provided a new platform for further deepening interactions between the two regions. Under the theme “Heritage and Innovation”, Changshu promoted its unique cultural tourism and industries through a city pavilion and leveraged supporting events to enhance multi-dimensional exchanges with Malaysia.
Marking the 620th anniversary of Zheng He’s voyages to the Western Oceans, this historical context adds special significance to Changshu’s “Heritage” exhibition. In the traditional culture sector, Changshu highlighted two treasures: Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Suzhou-style rosewood craftsmanship. Kuang Yu, a Ming Dynasty TCM physician from Changshu, accompanied Zheng He on three voyages and is revered as the progenitor of TCM in Malaysia. Jiangsu Qihuang Tiancheng Health Industry Group brought herb-inspired creative accessories, moxa wellness products, and medicinal food products, vividly showcasing Changshu’s profound TCM heritage. Representing Suzhou-style rosewood craftsmanship, Changshu Golden Bat Craft Furniture Co., Ltd., renowned for furnishing Zhongnanhai’s Purple Light Pavilion, Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, and Shanghai Peace Hotel, displayed rosewood artworks featuring the ancient mortise-and-tenon joint structure. This allowed Malaysians to appreciate up close the exquisite artistry and cultural essence of Suzhou-style furniture.
On the “Innovation” front, Changshu focused on cross-border service platforms, demonstrating the vitality of new foreign trade models. Jiangsu Zhongfu Focus Cross-border Trade Service Co., Ltd., a provincial-level digital trade platform, promoted its SCT (Comprehensive Cross-Border Trade Service Platform) at the Jiangsu-Malaysia Digital Trade Matchmaking Conference. This initiative aids in expanding cross-border trade services and builds a convenient bridge for trade between Jiangsu and Southeast Asia. Simple & Opulence, recognized as a “Key Cultivation and Development Enterprise for Famous Cross-Border E-commerce Brands in Jiangsu Province,” saw its exported bedding sets and homewear highly popular in international markets. Suzhou Wise Interactive Media Co., Ltd., operating as a game service provider, has become a significant “port” for China’s game import and export industry through its global layout. The “Full-Case Integrated Marketing” solution showcased at the expo demonstrated its professional capabilities in international game industry cooperation.
Cultural and tourism exchange was also a crucial part of the interaction. At the Jiangsu-Malaysia International Cultural Tourism Promotion Exchange Conference, the Changshu Yushan Cultural Tourism Resort comprehensively presented Changshu’s landscape-city cultural tourism resources. This allowed the Malaysian public to deeply appreciate the unique charm of Jiangnan culture, further stimulating interest in visiting Changshu for tourism, experiences, and investment, thereby laying a solid foundation for cultural and tourism cooperation between the two regions.
During the expo, Changshu successfully signed three cooperation agreements: Changshu Cross-border E-commerce Public Service Center and GIMTOTAL signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement; Changshu Yushan Cultural Tourism Resort has established a friendly relationship with the Historic City of Melaka (Jonker Street); Euroports Investment (Changshu) Co., Ltd. and Northport (Malaysia) Bhd signed a Memorandum of Understanding. These agreements inject new momentum into future cooperation between Changshu and Malaysia.
