KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 — Gamuda Bhd, together with Taiwan-based Dong Pi Co Ltd, has been awarded a contract for the construction of a wharf and connecting roads for the Kaohsiung Port Intercontinental Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminal Construction project in Taiwan, worth RM3.72 billion.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the engineering company said the project was awarded to its unincorporated joint venture, in which Gamuda holds a 70 per cent stake and Dong Pi the remaining 30 per cent.
It was awarded by the Taiwan International Ports Corp Ltd Kaohsiung Branch, the state-owned port authority managing the Port of Kaohsiung.
“The project involves construction of 2.19 kilometres (km) of seawall, 1.2 km of connecting bridge, wharf, unloading platform, connecting platform and caisson-type docks.
“The project aims to establish a complete and secure process for offshore unloading and onshore receiving of LNG and to ensure the efficient import, storage, and regasification of LNG for delivery to Dalin and surrounding users,” it said.
Gamuda said the project is expected to generate approximately RM2.60 billion in revenue for the company and contribute positively to the group’s revenue and earnings from the financial year ending July 31, 2026, onwards until its expected completion within five years.
