Japan Urges Ships to Avoid Persian Gulf Amid Heightened Tensions

TOKYO, March 3 — Japan’s government has urged Japanese ships to steer clear of the Persian Gulf amid disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz after the United States and Israel launched airstrikes on Iran, Kyodo News Agency reported, citing a top government spokesman on Tuesday.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara also said during a press conference that the transport ministry had advised ships already in the Persian Gulf to dock at safe locations.
