KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 — Malaysia is strengthening its position as Southeast Asia’s most comprehensive game development ecosystem via closer collaboration with PlayStation Studios Malaysia, said Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.
In his Facebook post, Gobind said the strategic alignment discussion explored opportunities to expand the studio’s capacity as a regional AAA hub, while empowering local vendors and talent through government-backed incentives.
“At the PlayStation Studios x Government of Malaysia Strategic Alignment Discussion today, we explored ways to deepen this synergy. From studio workforce growth and vendor enablement to aligning with national policies such as the Digital Content Ecosystem Roadmap, artificial intelligence and Malaysia Digital,” he posted.
He also expressed his appreciation to industry partners for their support, highlighting that Malaysia’s strength in game development is driven by the complementary pillars of academia, international development and service providers, technology, as well as publishing and distribution.
“This is in line with our mission to develop talent and lead the gaming sector in the region. I am confident we will see meaningful progress as a result of this meeting,” Gobind said.
