KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 22 – Tenaga Nasional Bhd has created two new senior leadership positions in a move to support governance and succession planning.
The utility group named Mahathir Nor Ismail as its senior chief network officer, while Datuk Muhamad Nazri Pazil is the senior chief strategy and sustainability officer.
“The refined structure enables the president and chief executive officer (Datuk Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan) to provide clear overall leadership and stewardship, while empowering senior leaders with well-defined responsibilities to drive performance, transformation and long-term value creation,” the group said in a statement on Monday.
Under the new leadership structure, the senior chief network officer will oversee the majority of execution and delivery responsibilities, while the senior strategy and sustainability officer consolidates strategy and long-term planning functions under a single leadership umbrella.
“By clearly delineating leadership accountability between execution and strategy, Tenaga is reinforcing good governance practices, improving coordination across the organisation and strengthening alignment between long-term planning and day-to-day operations,” the company also known as TNB said.
“The structure also supports a more robust succession management process by developing deep leadership capability and ensuring continuity at critical leadership levels,” it added.
TNB said the leadership enhancement also supports the delivery of its strategic road map, ‘Reimagining TNB 2.0’, which aims to transform Malaysia’s energy system towards a more sustainable, resilient and future-ready future, in line with the country’s net-zero aspirations.
At the time of writing, shares in TNB were up 16 sen or 1.2% at RM13.54, valuing the group at RM78.81 billion.
