Malaysia’s Judges Set to Receive Up to 30pc Salary Hike From 2026, Says Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 — Malaysia’s judges will get up to 30 per cent hike in their wages starting from next year, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today.

Anwar said the last time judges had a wage hike was in 2015, adding that they do not receive annual wage increments unlike others.

He noted that judges are also not allowed to hold positions or own businesses, and also said that the judiciary which was once considered scarred is now moving towards having more integrity and independence.

“In line with that spirit, the government agrees to increase the wages of judges up to 30 per cent starting from January 1, 2026,” he said in his Budget 2026 speech in Parliament.
