Intel CEO to Meet Trump at White House on Monday

WASHINGTON, August 11 — Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan is set to meet with US President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday to discuss cooperation between his company and the US government, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti quoting a Wall Street Journal report, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, Tan is expected to hold a detailed conversation with Trump, during which he will talk about his personal and professional experience, as well as propose options for cooperation between the US government and Intel.

The CEO also hopes to gain the US leader’s favour by demonstrating his loyalty to the United States and presenting the preservation of Intel’s manufacturing capacity as a matter of national security, one of the sources told the newspaper.

Last week, Trump called for Tan’s resignation amid suspicions of a conflict of interest. The call comes days after Republican Senator Tom Cotton sent a letter to Intel CEO expressing concern over Tan’s investments in Chinese companies.

According to Western media, Tan has personal and stock investments in hundreds of Chinese firms, including entities related to China’s defence sector. In his letter, Cotton also said that American companies receiving government subsidies must strictly adhere to safety standards and report to Congress.
