TEHRAN, June 18 — Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, said on Tuesday that the operations conducted since Friday were intended as deterrent warnings, and that punitive actions will follow soon.
“These operations served as a warning for deterrence, and punitive operations will be implemented shortly,” the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted him.
Mousavi accused Israel of violating international law by continuing its attacks in Gaza and Lebanon, which he said had resulted in the deaths of nearly 300 journalists.
He condemned what he described as a deliberate strike by Israel on the Tehran headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) in an attempt to silence independent media.
“The regime brutally attacked the media personnel of IRIB, ignoring all recognised international laws, to suppress the voice of truth,” he added.
He further stated that the people of Iran, led by its armed forces, would take action to avenge the blood of those martyred.
