Prabowo Departs For Moscow For Talks With Putin Amid Evolving Global Dynamics

JAKARTA, April 13 – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has departed for Moscow, Russia, to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, with discussions expected to cover a range of strategic issues amid evolving global dynamics.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said Prabowo and his delegation departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, here at about 11.10 pm local time on Sunday, where he is scheduled to hold a one-on-one meeting with Putin on Monday afternoon, upon arrival in the Russian capital.

“Approaching midnight on Sunday, April 12, 2026, President Prabowo Subianto departed for Moscow, Russia.

“The flight to Moscow would be completed non-stop in 12 hours using the Garuda Indonesia-1 aircraft, PK-GIF,” he said in a statement, issued by Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, on Monday.

Describing the meeting between Prabowo and Putin as “crucial”, Teddy said the two leaders is expected to focus on energy security, continuing cooperation with the Russian government and ensuring stable national energy supplies, including oil availability.

He said the talks would also cover global geopolitical developments, with Indonesia expected to convey its strategic position in maintaining global stability and peace.

He said Prabowo is accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia.

He said Prabowo’s visit to Russia this time marks his third, following his second visit to Moscow on December 10, 2025, and his first visit to Saint Petersburg on June 18-20, 2025.
