JAKARTA, Dec 10 — President Prabowo Subianto officially invited Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to visit Indonesia, reciprocating his visit to Islamabad on December 8–9, 2025.
After bilateral meeting at the Pakistani Prime Minister’s official residence on Tuesday, President Prabowo also extended an invitation to other Pakistani leaders to visit Indonesia.
“I officially invite Prime Minister Sharif to visit Indonesia, as well as other Pakistani leaders, to observe and perhaps offer guidance and insights to further strengthen Indonesia-Pakistan cooperation,” Prabowo said.
This marks President Prabowo’s first visit to Pakistan, where the two leaders discussed issues, including strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, education—particularly vocational training, culture, and health.
They also witnessed the signing of several cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoU).
The seven cooperation documents cover health, education, scholarship assistance, halal product certification and development, archiving, and drug trafficking prevention and eradication.
In addition, they also agreed to rebalance the trade relationship, which is currently dominated by palm oil imports from Indonesia. Prabowo said has instructed his ministers to find concrete steps to restore this balance.
Meanwhile, PM stated that bilateral trade has reached USD4.5 billion, with 90 percent consisting of palm oil imports from Indonesia. He outlined several strategies to boost Pakistan’s exports to Indonesia, including agricultural products, information technology (IT), and other potential sectors.
PM also said that Pakistan is prepared to send dentists, specialist doctors, and other health professionals to Indonesia, in line with President Prabowo’s plan to establish new medical faculties and increase the number of doctors, specialists, and subspecialists in the country.
Prabowo was accompanied by a high-level delegation that included Foreign Minister Sugiono, Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto, Education Minister Brian Yuliarto, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Air Force Chief Marshal M. Tonny Harjono, Ambassador Chandra Warsenanto Sukotjo, Defense Logistics Chief Air Marshal Yusuf Jauhari, and Army Special Forces Commander Lt. Gen. Djon Afriandi.
