UNRWA Says Food Supplies Ready to Sustain All of Gaza for Three Months

NEW YORK, Oct 10 — The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced on Thursday that it has sufficient food aid to support the entire population of the Gaza Strip for the next three months, as the humanitarian crisis continues to deepen.

According to the Palestine News and Info Agency (WAFA), UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini stated on X that the agency has food, medicines, and other basic supplies ready for immediate delivery into Gaza, and is prepared to meet the urgent needs of the population once safe access is secured.

“We have enough to provide food for the entire population for the coming three months,” Lazzarini wrote, emphasising the agency’s central role in the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, including the provision of essential services such as healthcare and education.

He highlighted that over 660,000 children in Gaza are waiting to return to school, and that UNRWA’s teaching staff is prepared to resume their vital role in supporting education in the Strip.

Lazzarini also urged UN member states to provide the necessary support for UNRWA to fulfil its mission during this critical period.
