US State Department Issues Worldwide Alert for American Citizens Abroad

WASHINGTON, June 23 – The US State Department issued a worldwide caution security alert Sunday advising American citizens overseas to exercise “increased caution,” according to Anadolu Ajansi (AA).

“The conflict between Israel and Iran has resulted in disruptions to travel and periodic closure of airspace across the Middle East,” the department said in a statement.

“There is the potential for demonstrations against US citizens and interests abroad,” it added.

The advisory came after US President Donald Trump announced that American forces carried out “very successful” strikes early Sunday on Iran’s Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan nuclear sites amid growing fears of a broader conflict.

Hostilities broke out June 13 when Israel launched airstrikes on several sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes.
