KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 17 — The Foreign Ministry has confirmed that actress Nadia Kesuma, who was reported missing while transiting at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on Thursday, has exited the airport premises.
Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the confirmation was sent by Saudi immigration authorities to the Consulate-General of Malaysia in Jeddah.
“After 20 hours of being uncontactable, the case can be classified as a missing person report, and I have instructed the Malaysian consulate office to make every effort to assist in the search,” he told reporters, when met at the UMNO General Assembly here today.
Mohamad said this when asked about updates in the disappearance of the actress, who became uncontactable after transiting at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah en route from Kuala Lumpur to London.
He added that the Malaysian consulate is working with Saudi police to ensure search efforts are carried out smoothly and effectively.
“We must place our trust in the competence of the police, and we ask her family to remain calm. We will continue to do our best to locate her,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mohamad stressed that the travel agency responsible for arranging Nadia’s trip must also play a role in managing the missing person case.
Earlier today, Malaysian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Datuk Syed Bakri Syed Abdul Rahman told Bernama that a report on the actress’ disappearance had been lodged, and that the embassy was awaiting the outcome of investigations by Saudi police.
