MOSCOW, Jan 29 — Silver and gold prices are up four to six per cent on Thursday morning, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.
Before this, both metals reached new all-time highs, trading above US$120 (RM471.60) and US$5,600 (RM22,008) per troy ounce, according to trading data.
As of 06:24 GMT, the March silver futures contract on the New York Comex exchange was up six per cent to US$120.28 (RM472.70) per ounce.
Earlier on Thursday, prices reached a new record, rising to US$120.518 (RM473.64) per ounce.
Meanwhile, as of 06:41 GMT, the price of the April gold futures contract on the New York Comex exchange was up by US$279.31 (RM1,097.69) from the previous close, to US$5,584.56 (RM21,947.32) per troy ounce.
Earlier in the session, prices reached a historic high of US$5,625.89 (RM22,109.75) per ounce.
Analysts forecast gold’s continued attractiveness for investors.
