HYDERABAD, May 30 – Malaysia’s tropical charms are being actively promoted in Algeria under the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, as tourism and business links between the two countries continue to gain momentum.
Malaysian Ambassador to Algeria Datuk Rizany Irwan Muhamad Mazlan said the growing interest among Algerians in visiting Malaysia was evident from the encouraging response to the country’s participation at the recent Salon International du Tourisme et des Voyages (SITEV) 2026 tourism fair in Algiers.
“Malaysia enjoys a unique appeal in Algeria due to the reputation we have built as a friendly and family-oriented destination. We are witnessing particularly strong interest in travel since the launch of a direct Air Algerie service to Kuala Lumpur on March 29.
“Our campaign is supported by the fact that Malaysia offers visa-free entry for Algerian citizens. Our focus is on presenting Malaysia as a premier destination for leisure and business tourism,” he told Bernama.
Rizany said Malaysia is highly regarded among Algerian travellers for its Muslim-friendly tourism offerings, with readily accessible halal food options and prayer facilities nationwide.
“Algerian travellers can explore Malaysia with complete peace of mind. For many Algerians, Malaysia feels more like visiting family than going abroad,” he added.
To further promote Malaysia in the North African market, the embassy plans to organise a tropical fruit promotion programme in Algeria in October, to showcase agricultural trade opportunities and agro-tourism attractions.
Malaysia received 19,636 travellers from Algeria in 2025, recording a 14.5 per cent year-on-year increase. The number of arrivals from Algeria grew by 7.8 per cent to 2,167 in the first quarter of this year compared with the same period last year.
