Saudi Arabia Showcases Rich Cultural Diversity at KLIBF 2026

KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 — Saudi Arabia is leveraging its role as Guest of Honour at the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIBF) 2026 to showcase the richness of its cultural heritage and creative industries to Malaysian and regional audiences.

Through a comprehensive pavilion featuring literature, the arts, heritage and interactive cultural experiences, the Kingdom aims to deepen cultural exchange with Malaysia while offering visitors a glimpse into its diverse traditions and contemporary cultural achievements.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, Dr Abdullatif Abdulaziz Al Wasel, said that Saudi Arabia’s selection as Guest of Honour reflects the strong cultural ties between the Kingdom and Malaysia.

“The participation provides an exceptional opportunity to introduce Malaysian and Asian audiences to the richness and diversity of Saudi culture while strengthening cultural ties between the two countries,” he told the media here on Saturday.

He added that the event also reaffirms the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting its cultural heritage and expanding international cultural engagement.

The pavilion features a wide range of attractions, including panel discussions and poetry sessions led by Saudi writers and intellectuals, live performances of traditional arts, exhibitions of rare manuscripts and Saudi publications, as well as displays of archaeological artefact replicas, handicrafts, fashion, music and film.

Visitors can also experience the traditional Saudi Majlis, a symbol of hospitality and social gathering recognised on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List, alongside live demonstrations by artisans and showcases of traditional attire and musical instruments from across the Kingdom.
